15U 4-0 at Golden State Gathering, 16U with Another 3-1 Display

After an impressive 3-1 showing at the Arizona Cactus Classic, 15U kept the momentum going with an undefeated 4-0 performance at the Golden State Gathering. They finished the NCAA Live Period with a 7-1 overall record and made significant progress offensively.

“Our best weekend of the season so far,” said Coach Zarian Martin. “Not because of the wins, but how we won. The ball movement was great all weekend and 3 out of 4 games we put together two great halves of basketball which was something we struggled to do so far this season. Our defense has been great all season, so overall the biggest highlight was the offense taking a huge improvement.”

16U also continued their success by finishing 3-1 on the weekend. This matched their 3-1 performance in Arizona, making them 6-2 during the April NCAA Live Period.

Zaden Martin Commits to College of San Mateo

We want to send a huge congratulations to Burlingame senior Zaden Martin who announced his commitment to play at College of San Mateo! After playing in our College Prep program, Zaden was named MVP of the Peninsula South Division and CalHi Sports First Team All-State as a senior. He joins King’s Academy guard Jon Taylor (UC Merced) as 2023 graduates going on to play at the next level.

PrepHoops Shows Love to 17U Group

After going 4-0 at the Cactus Classic and winning every game by double-figures, Team Esface College Prep 17U made a name for itself on the national scene. PrepHoops recognized the play of Andrew McDowell, Alex Naber, David Baron, and Angelo Ghattas after the event, citing them as top 2024 performers in the GXL Division . Exciting to see hard work get noticed on the national stage!

Coming Up…

The College Prep program will be playing in the West Coast Elite East Bay Bash this weekend (May 6-7) up here in the Tri-Valley area. After this weekend, College Prep will play in a one-day tournament on May 13th at Chabot College. This will be hosted by Gerry Freitas of Hoop Review, known as the one of the premier scouts in Northern California and a former college coach at USC, Colorado, St. Mary’s, and UC Davis among others.

That will close out the Spring season and allow our athletes to play with their high school teams during June. We’ll still be hosting open gyms in our Tuesday/Thursday time slots with current and former college players. We’re also planning a one-day showcase to get college coaches to check us out so stay on the lookout. We’ll be back on the tournament scene in July during the next NCAA Live periods (July 6-9/July 22-23). Let’s finish out the Spring strong and excited to see these groups continue to grow into the summer!
