Black Club Spring Summer Newsletter #5 | Thursday May 11th 2023
Hey Black Club Families, it's been a while!
Let’s talk catch up.
HUSTLE UP RECAP
Volunteer Shout Out!
First and foremost, a HUGE Esface thank you to all the families that showed up and volunteered their valuable weekend time towards the HUSTLE UP cause. We couldn’t have done it without you!
On my end over at the Red Morton Community Center, we definitely had some clutch performances; whether it was getting thrown on the scoreboard last minute (Christina Lee 5th/7th Graders), pulling an unplanned 4-6 hour shift (Jennavine Lee and the gaggle of 6th graders she was rangling), or the countless other selfless actions throughout the day, you all perfectly embodied the power of the Esface community!
Player Shoutout!
Congratulations to all our athletes as well! Despite the tough competition, all 11 teams battled hard and made the Esface name proud. I personally got feedback from coaches and directors of other programs who wanted to express their respect and admiration for our grit, sportsmanship, and adamance to play basketball the right way. To the teams that won, well done! To everyone else, your effort and execution were outstanding, and I am proud of you all. Keep up the great work!
Players of the month
For those of you who haven’t been able to check out the Black Club Wall of Fame below is a showcase of some of the highlighted players who have been playing and working in true Esface fashion over the last month. Take a look and give a round of applause!
”Splash Boys of the Month” were selected from our standardized shooting drills.
“Anti-Softness Players of the Month” were selected or nominated by the coaching for the athletes that are both exceptional at not shying away from the physicality that comes with being a successful basketball player OR who has shown exceptional improvement in this facet of their game.
Congrats Players! (Toggle LEFT and RIGHT to see all teams)
Whats Coming up?
It has been an active few weeks with more to come!
This weekend we are traveling over to Walnut Creek for Team Blaze’s “Go All Out” (SATURDAY ONLY) tournament. This weekend was originally a two-day event but because all two-day events either didn’t have the competition level we are looking for or were exceptionally far to travel we decided this was best for the club. **Mother’s Day off as an added bonus!*
SoCal June 16th-18th:
You’ve all started receiving time-sensitive information about our SoCal Coca-Cola Classic tournament in Anaheim. I appreciate all of those who responded to the survey in a timely manner. Please keep that sense of urgency in mind as we proceed!
With the teams being set and finalized by tomorrow (on pace to have all 11 teams solidified!). I’ll be working on hotel block deals next week.
Thanks for your patience, it’s going to be an epic weekend!
AAU Camp is approaching fast on pace to sell out! We’d obviously prefer to have our Black Club athletes taking up the gym rather than other club players. Make sure you don’t lose out on your spot. Here are the current deals (Expire May 30th):
HC23BCBOGO20 -20% off registering 1 athlete for 2 camps
HC23BC100 - $100 off Camp for Black Club Players (single redemption only)
