Another fantastic week of TrueLeague last week as we finished up the first week of regular season. We had some good competitive games and we are definitely seeing growth in the focus areas that the coaching staff and Coach Barton have been focusing on. Lets take a look at our players of the week!

Basketball 101: increase parent understanding

This video from current Duke Womens Head Coach Kara Lawson is a great clip of how players have to deal with tough. This feeling is usually new for many players in TrueLeague as they learn to adjust to game situations and playing against competition that is very similar to theirs. Coach Kara speaks to the beauty of the struggle and how ultimately there are always gonna be hard situations even when you finish one, so you have to get comfortable right away with that feeling. This follows very closely to our mantra of being process-oriented in TrueLeague as the focus is for these players to build their way up and keep breaking new ground as they head down their path of basketball.

The second game of the regular season is quickly approaching! There has been a ton of focus on offensive and defensive principles this week, so please look forward to seeing these concepts during games! Also, please have every player wear their NEW game uniforms to game days on Friday. We love the new look jerseys for this season and want to make sure all the athletes match!

Black Club Update:

Black Club had a fantastic weekend in their first tournament of the season! The academy came back with 3 championships, which is amazing to have in our first one of the season. In particular, I want to shout out our 3rd Grade Black 2 team which is comprised of many former TrueLeague players from Fall/Winter who won one of those 3 championships! The TrueLeague pipeline to Black Club is strong, and their success showcases how their commitment to getting better helped them grow. This is the mindset I want all of our TrueLeague players to possess!
