Esface Shows Out at NorCal Hoop Summit
The entire Black Club program was out at the NorCal Hoop Summit this weekend which resulted in some highlight victories! The 5th Grade Hitters went 2-0 on the weekend which included a game winning bucket from Nilay Sriperambaduru in the final minute of a close one-point victory. The 6th Grade Goers pulled out a narrow 35-31 win over the Marin Wildcats behind key baskets from Ethan Tom and Liam Jones in the closing moments and the 8th Grade Goers had an impressive win over the Silicon Valley Soldiers behind 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists from Matthew Osterloh. With one more tournament before Portland, let’s keep the momentum going!
Portland is Almost Here!
We’re a week away from taking off for Portland and wanted to keep everyone in the loop with the latest details. You can check for more information at teamesface.com/portland.
Last Vitamins session of the season
As we gear up for our last local tournament, we wanted to remind everyone of our new Friday format at SportsHouse. We’ve merged Black Club Vitamins to include all grades from 6-7pm and will have our Black Club Open Gym immediately after from 7-8pm for just $15 or FREE for anyone who attends Black Club Vitamins. You can register using the links below, hope to see you there!
Alumni Spotlight: Garret Keyhani
For this week’s alumni spotlight, we wanted to take a look at 2022 Serra High School graduate Garret Keyhani! After growing up in the Team Esface Black Club, Keyhani attended Menlo High School before transferring to Serra where he was a First Team All-WCAL selection. He signed to play at Division III Hamilton College where he’s blossomed into one of the best players in the league as a sophomore.
Following a freshman season where Garret averaged 3.9 points per game, the 6-foot-7 forward has become the second leading scorer for the Continentals, averaging 16.6 points per game while shooting 38% from three-point range. He’s also become the team’s leading rebounder, pulling down 5.9 boards per game. Garret currently ranks as the conference’s 7th leading scorer and 10th leading rebounder. We’re excited to see Garret continue to blossom at Hamilton!
BASKETBALL 101: INCREASE PARENT’S HOOP UNDERSTANDING
We wanted to pass along Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr’s advice to all sports parents for this week’s segment of Basketball 101! As Kerr mentions in the video, it’s important for all athletes to understand that their coaching is from the sidelines and NOT from the stands. We all know how frustrating it can be to watch your athlete struggle with concepts or plays that might seem “simple” but require years of practice and repetition to perform like you might see on television. As a successful coach and athlete himself, Kerr shares a lot of wisdom with experience from both sides of the sport!
Coming Up…
We’ll be participating in another Saturday-only event at the 4Ballers Only Kick-Off Showcase in the East Bay this weekend. Be sure to check TeamSnap for your schedule and please mark your availability on TeamSnap so we know our roster for the weekend. Take your Sunday to enjoy watching the 49ers play in the Super Bowl! Let’s finish the Bay Area circuit strong before taking off for Portland!
