Jorell Clark Starring as a Sophomore at Palo Alto
Just a sophomore, Jorell Clark has had a stellar start while playing for Palo Alto’s varsity squad. Clark has been the team’s leading scorer, averaging 15.0 points per game, while also shining on the defensive end of the court.
His breakout game came against Hillsdale High School in the second round of the Burlingame Invitational where Palo Alto trailed 28-25 at the half. Clark erupted for 16 points in the second half, including the game-sealing three in the final minute, as Palo Alto pulled out the 57-54 win. Clark finished the game with a career-high 29 points. For his efforts, Clark was named to the All-Tournament team.
Clark spent the past summer playing up for the Team Esface College Prep 16U team following his freshman year. He was a standout during the summer which led to him playing with the 17U team in the fall. A multi-sport athlete, Clark was also balancing competing for the cross country team prior to the basketball season.
Britt Wright, a regional scout for Prep Hoops, recognized Clark for his efforts earlier in the season.
“He’s long and fast in transition,” Wright wrote of Clark. “He has the long arms, the quick hands to generate lay-ups from steals on the defensive side of the ball. He has the range to shoot 3’s and his dribble will get him into the paint.”
Just scratching the surface of his potential, Clark has a bright future ahead and figures to be one of the key players for this summer’s 17U team. Palo Alto currently sits with an 8-2 record on the year with one more non-conference game before entering league. With Clark’s play, he’ll be making a case for all-conference honors.
